Barley's Ale House 1

When Tony travels for work, the kids and I usually order pizza and have a picnic on the living floor in front of the television. Tony recently went to Denver for a couple of days and we decided to switch it up a little. We went to Barley's (which happens to be one of Tony's favorite restaurants - and he was a little bitter when we told him about the dinner). We had a pile of nachos as big as my head. That is saying a lot because I have a giant noggin. Ian had chicken fingers, I had pierogies, and Connor had chicken wings. The wings were too spicy for him, so he then ordered some fries. Barley's fries are awesome. They are batter dipped and then fried. All and all, a great meal. It's a shame that Tony missed it...

Connor's 9th birthday dinner

Alright, these pictures are old. Over a month old. But I'm going to post them anyway because they are from Connor's 9th birthday dinner. He chose carryout from Roadhouse Wings & Grill as his birthday meal. As always, he ordered 10 wings with medium sauce.

Connor is showing off for the camera here.

Here's my meal - chicken tenders with extra hot sauce and a side of wedge fries.

I banned Tony from my blog several months ago. He was starting to pose for the camera and seeking out opportunities to get his picture posted. His ego is already big enough and I didn't want to encourage his antics. BUT this picture was too funny not to post. He had 10 hot wings.

Here is the birthday boy with a very un-homemade cupcake!

Roadhouse Wings & Grill - 08.09.2009

This picture speaks for itself. Connor is clearly a wing-eating champion and a total badass.

Tony milks his birthday for everything that he can - 08.02.2009

Tony received an Applebee's gift card for his birthday. He's like a kid with a couple bucks in his pocket when he gets a gift card. He wants to use it right away. As a result, we had a late lunch at Applebee's. I make fun of Applebee's constantly, but truth be told, I used to frequent it for happy hour. We haven't been to one in probably 6 years though.

The food was better than I remember, but it still wasn't great. I had french onion soup and a chicken ceasar salad. Both were okay. Tony had an A1 burger.

Connor had mini sliders which he took one bite of and declared to be "not very good". Ian had chicken fingers. He enjoyed them right up until the moment that he started to gag on one and spat it up in to my salad. At that point, I decided that I was finished with my salad.

After lunch, we went home to veg out. We watched about 4 hours of Man Versus Food. Tony begged and begged for hot wings and reminded me several times that it was his "birthday WEEKEND". So I relented and we tried a new place, Roadhouse Wings & Grill.

The wings at this place were really flippin good! I had the second hottest sauce available and it was... very hot... and very good!

Tony had hot wings, Connor had medium, and I had extra hot boneless wings.

I asked Ian how his food was and he threw some gang signs at me. I'll leave that response open to interpretation but he looks pretty happy in this picture

BW3 - 7.30.2009

I needed a hot wings fix last Thursday and Rooster's was too far out of the way so the kids and I went to BW3.

Connor was being a punk, as usual.

Ian loves BW3... He calls it "that place with chicken and drawing!"

Everything was all well and fine... Ian was having fun taking pictures.

Our food arrived... Ian had chicken fingers, Connor had medium wings, and I had grilled chicken tenders with Blazin' sauce on the side. Blazin' sauce is the hottest wing sauce available at BW3.

Connor was kind enough to snap a picture of me immediately after I took my first bit of chicken with Blazin' sauce. That is the look of my entire face being engulfed in heat. That stuff is spiiiiiiiccccccccccy!

This Is Not Going To End Well For Me - 6.15.2009

Clearly, I've lost my mind. I took the kids to Play It Again Sports today to buy a few tennis rackets. Ian opted not to purchase a tennis racquet and instead asked to buy a pair of boxing gloves. As the adult in this situation, I should have put my foot down and told him "no". But I didn't do that. I got him the gloves and two punching mitts. I am 100% certain that tomorrow I will have a picture to post of the black eye that Ian will be giving me later today.

Then we went to BW3.

Connor's a little punk.

And so is Ian.

And it probably wasn't a good idea for me to order the Wild sauce. It made my nose run while I was eating and my stomach starting burning shortly thereafter.

Tony Likes Attention - 06.06.2009

Tony loves the attention that he's been getting on my blog, and if he tells you otherwise, he's lying. On Saturday we went to Barley's for a late lunch and he and the kids spent most of the time showing off for the camera.

Tony was delighted to discover that Scottish Ale is now served in a pitcher!

Next up, ale washed onion strings.

Then Ian decided to make his "cute" face for me.

Food - Shockingly, Ian had chicken fingers.

Tony had the Barley Burger.

Connor had grilled wings with medium sauce. Connor arrived at this decision after much debate and several minor fits when he found out the the wings would be served grilled and not fried.

I had a turkey reuben with perogies on the side.
